Smoke and Mirrors
Gaiman, Neil. Smoke and Mirrors.

A collection of shorts, some of which are memorable insights, some equally as forgettable, and some I'd read before. I particularly enjoyed "Murder Mysteries" and "Snow, Glass, Apples", and there's one about Santa I had to read twice. If you appreciate Gaiman's dark humour and are partial to extremely short tales, this one is worth the read.

Tipping the Velvet
Waters, Sarah. Tipping the Velvet.

Beautifully written and delightful to read. I took it in gentle sips like a fine wine, made it last, and savoured it. I enjoyed the pacing, I was very pleased with the language, I loved the casual detailing, and I was sad when it was done.

Dead Witch Walking
Harrison, Kim. Dead Witch Walking.

A suprisingly fun read in an alternate universe where biofoods have killed most humans, and vampires, pixies and witches have claimed their place as visisble and productive citizens. Good pacing, interesting spins, and plenty fun.

Deadly Decisions
Reichs, Kathy. Deadly Decisions.

Reichs' writing improves with each book. It's another good tale, with too much detail, but also a great deal of genuine humour.

Fingersmith
Waters, Sarah. Fingersmith.

I liked the use of generalities as names, I liked the book being broken into parts, and I really enjoyed the story. Waters paints such vivid imagery and takes me to places I can almost hear and smell. A great read.

Francis, Dick. 10lb Penalty.

A good read from a well-known author. It was surprisingly contemporary, fast-paced, and interesting. I rather enjoyed it.

Marcs, Lizbeth. Where Fools Go

Picking up at the end of series of Buffy and during Angel, Marcs takes her two favourite characters and successfully puts them together in a whole new adventure. The story is good and the characters are true.
